Create New VPC for Datacoral

Datacoral requires a VPC in which to install its resources. We provide a CloudFormation template that creates all the networking resources that are required for our software to work correctly, which can be reviewed here. In order to create the VPC, follow the steps below.

Navigate to CloudFormation console in AWS

In the CloudFormation console, click on "Create Stack".

Then, click on "With new resources"

Create CF Stack from S3 link

In the Create Stack screen, pick "Template is Ready" and add the following S3 URL:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.datacoral.io/prod/cftemplates/latest/customer-vpc-creation-template.json

Configure input parameters for CF Stack

The following input parameters have to be set:

  • Installation Name: Name of your Datacoral installation
  • VPC CIDR Block: CIDR Block for the VPC to be created
  • Public Subnet CIDR Block: CIDR Block for a public subnet to be created within the VPC
  • AWS Zone: This is the primary availability zone inside the VPC to spin up Datacoral resources
  • CIDR for Zone1 Private Subnet: CIDR Block for a private subnet in the primary AWS AZ within the VPC
  • Second AWS Zone: A secondary availability zone inside the VPC
  • CIDR for Zone2 Private Subnet: CIDR Block for a private subnet in the secondary AWS AZ within the VPC

Click Next to progress to the next screen.

Configure Stack Options, Review and Create Stack

Click Next to proceed through this screen, review your selections and create the stack.

Wait for CF Stack to be created successfully

In the CloudFormation AWS console, wait for the CloudFormation stack to successfully create all resources.

Retrieving information from the successful stack

In the CloudFormation console, click on the VPC stack that was successfully created, and click on Parameters to retrieve the following information:

  • VPC CIDR block
  • Public Subnet CIDR block
  • Primary Private Subnet CIDR
  • Secondary Private Subnet CIDR

In the CloudFormation console, click on the VPC stack that was successfully created, and click on Parameters to retrieve the following information:
